About Ereignis Institute

Director: Andrew Jorn

Ereignis Institute is the educational branch of the Ereignis Center for Philosophy and the Arts. We offer online and on-site courses in philosophy, psychoanalysis, culture, and the arts. Our programme welcomes mature learners, part-time students, and those seeking flexible, non-standardised approaches to study.

Our pedagogical approach

Students today are diverse: many study part-time, outside of traditional academic timelines. Ereignis Institute provides courses that fit this reality. We support students’ preferred pace and style of learning, while encouraging interaction with instructors and peers.

Research shows that students learn best when they interact meaningfully with instructors and peers, feel confident in solving problems, and sense that their instructors care about their learning. Our pedagogy is designed to strengthen these affective outcomes, improving not only learning but also student satisfaction.

To this end, we aim to:

  • Increase student activity and interaction
  • Encourage a sense of mastery and ownership in the learning process
  • Cultivate engagement, moral reasoning, and leadership

Our modules are taught by experienced university lecturers and international scholars. When combined, our courses lead to a diploma issued by the Institute.

Courses and learning modules

We offer:

  • Live courses, held on-site or online.
  • Pre-recorded courses, which you can take at your own pace.

Pre-recorded courses are open to all members. You can become a member by registering, or, if you’re already registered and logged in, by upgrading to membership via account settings. Pre-recorded courses come with complimentary materials, such as reading lists and handouts, and optional assignments to check your learning progress. To start a pre-recorded course, go to the course’s front page and press the Start button.

Live courses follow a fixed schedule, announced on the course’s page. Courses are bundled together into learning modules; by signing up to a learning module, you gain access to all of its component courses.

Once registered, you have access to all resources associated with a learning module’s courses, including live and recorded lectures, reading lists and handouts, assessments, a dedicated student forum, and transcripts and diplomas. You can request your diploma on demand, once you’ve completed a course.

You can pay your registration fee by credit or debit card, or by bank transfer, both processed securely via Stripe. Should a course be cancelled for any reason, you’ll receive a full refund.

You can track your progress on your profile page, where we provide a listing of the courses you’re enrolled in, together with your assessment results for each course.

What kind of courses do we offer? How do I join a course? These questions and many others are answered in our FAQ.
